The Moulin, a former water-mill in the Dordogne region of South West France,  is a uniquely beautiful venue to hire for your workshop or retreat. Its secluded and peaceful  setting, Japanese style meditation / meeting hall, bamboo groves and riverside location make the moulin a stunning and unforgettable venue to host your event.

Accommodation:
We have 17 bedrooms. 4 of them have single beds, 11 can be single or double rooms, plus one room with 4 beds and another with 6, giving  a total of 36 bed spaces. The accommodation is shared between the main building and individual cabins situated throughout the 1.8 hectares (4 acres) of grounds. There are bathrooms on each floor of the main building, with an exterior bathroom block serving the outbuildings.

There is ample space for camping under the trees by the river. In addition to guests' own tents, we can provide tents for hire. At certain times it may also be possible to rent two further large appartments on the property if you require more space.

Facilities:
Our Japanese style meeting / meditation hall measures 12m x 6.25m (40 ft x 21ft) with a wooden floor. The gentle sounds of the river, the local birdsong and the breeze in the bamboo leaves complete the peaceful and inspiring feel of the hall. There is an altar at one end with a bronze burmese buddha statue.

The Dining hall seats 40-50 people with a roughly half-half mixture of 'table and chair' seating, and  asian style seating with low tables and floor cushions. These can also be moved aside to use the dining hall as an additional meeting / activity room.The kitchen is large and professionally equipped.

A broad river and a canal run right through the property, and make for wonderful swimming in the summer months. The river is regularly tested for its water purity and is exceptionally clean.

Nearby:
The village of Cubjac - just a few minutes walk away - has a bakery, a general store, a pharmacy and two cafés. There is also a campsite that offers canoe, kayak and bicycle hire. Perigueux is the nearest big town - 18km away, which has everything you could reasonably need. It is also a historic french city with beautiful, cobbled streets and a famous cathedral dating from the 12th century, and renovated in the 19th century in a highly unusual, eastern style.

Travel:
Nearest airports are Limoges, Bergerac and Bordeaux, in that order. RyanAir fly from the UK and Belgium to the first two, and Bordeaux has a full network of international flights. Perigueux has good rail connections. We can arrange pick-ups by minibus from any of the above places.

Catering:
There are two ways to hire the Moulin for your event. You can hire the Moulin as a venue only, using our kitchens to provide for your own catering, or you can hire with catering, with all 3 meals per day provided. We cook wholesome, delicious and beautifully presented vegetarian food, mostly organic and as much as possible locally sourced, including from our own organic gardens.
